Spring Break Camps, Classes and Activities

Entertain, Stimulate and Exhaust your Mini Macaroni's!

The Caldwell YMCA, the City of Caldwell Park & Recreation and the Nampa Recreation Center have plenty to choose from to keep your mini macaroni's busy during spring break. I have included a list of most the classes and activities that each place offers during spring break. Please check the websites for more options that you might be interested in that is not included in this list.

Caldwell YMCA

~Spring Break Swim Lessons (Splash)
Splash is a great way to get kids swimming before the summer. Lessons are available for all ability levels, from non-swimmers up through advanced. In each 45-minute lesson, participants will receive 15 minutes of safety instruction and 30 minutes of lessons in the pool.
Morning and Evening sessions available. See website for schedule.
Ages: 5-12 (K-6th grade)
Schedule: March 21-25
Fee: $20 total for the week, for both members and non-members.
Required items: Come prepared with a swimsuit and towel

~Garden Camp
This camp isn't just about learning to grow vegetables. Kids will learn about the importance of sustainability and social responsibility. Hands will get dirty and plenty of fun will be had in the Caldwell Y's Youth Education Garden. 
Age: 6-12
Schedule: March 21-25 1pm-4pm
Fee: Member $110 | Non-Member $165

~Spring Break Volleyball Camp
Our caring and knowledgeable instructors will teach basic intermediate volleyball skills to get players ready for the upcoming Y Spring volleyball League as well as giving players the opportunity to learn new skills or sharpen old ones. 
Age: 7-13
Schedule: March 21-24 9am-11:30am
Fee: Member $67 | Non-Member $99

~Spring Break Basketball Camp
The Y's Spring Break Basketball Camp is a great opportunity for players to work on the fundamentals of basketball. Caring Y coaches will teach the players basic skills of basketball through exciting and fun drills and games. All ability and skill levels welcome.
Age: 7-14
Schedule: March 21-24 12:30pm-3pm
Fee: Member $67 | Non-Member $99

~Youth Sports Camp
In addition to learning sports fundamentals, kids will have lessons in sportsmanship, character values, social awareness, fitness, and nutrition. Sports include football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, kickball, "Capture the Flag", and many others. Closed-toed shoes and a refillable water bottle are required.

~Climbing Camp
Spring Break is a great time to come and climb! Climbing Camp provides an opportunity for climbers at all levels to come and experience climbing the rock wall while meeting new friends. Closed-toe shoes are required.
Age: 6-12 (Grades 1-5)

~Robotics 101
Using Lego Mindstorms, kids will visualize, build and program their own robot! Using laptops, kids can program their own robot to do a variety of different actions with the help of ultrasonic sound, lights and touch sensors.
Age: 7-12

~Little Structures (Little Engineers)
How tall can you go? Students will learn about balance, building stability and structures, design, and problem solving as they build models out of DUPLO LEGO sets.
Age: 4-6
Schedule: March 21-25 9am-10:30pm

Nampa Parks and Recreation

*Nampa Parks and Recreation has many classes and activities to choose from. Most classes begin on March 22. You may register

~Spring Break Art Series for Kids
Who doesn't love to draw BIG pictures, paint colorful animals, mold clay into mysterious creatures, get messy with glue and always find space for more googly eyes. Come join the Nampa Rec Center and bring your imagination for our 3-day kids only art series during spring break. Classes include materials. Dress for a mess!

~Horsemanship and Swimming
Is your middle schooler interested in horses? Sign them up for our half day horsemanship lesson with riding at Sweet Pepper Horse Ranch. Afterwards we will swim at the Nampa Rec Center. Pack a lunch, horse riding apparel, and a swimsuit. More information available upon request.

~American RedCross Babysitter Training
This training will provide information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents and guardians. Participants will develop skills in leadership, professionalism, basic care, safety and first aid. Course includes a Babysitter Training Handbook, an Emergency Reference Guide and a CD with fun activities and support resources. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Red Cross Babysitter Training Certification card. Please bring a sack lunch.

City of Caldwell Park and Recreation
 
~Glass Slipper Spring Break Camp
Dancers will rehears proper ballet technique and practice being a royal princess by using proper etiquette. Dance to songs from the movie and play. Receive a tiara.
Age: Grades 6th-8th

Schedule: March 21-24 2pm-4pm
